A Team Challenge
What is the A Team Challenge?
The aim of the programme is to encourage new entrants to food and farming and to increase the sustainability and success of enlightened agriculture.
How does it work?
The Challenge seeks to provide 7-10 projects with matched funding of between £2,000 to £6,000 per project. Participating projects will crowdfund for a proportion of their overall funding target and whatever the projects raise The A Team Foundation will match it (up to £6,000). The selection panel and each participating project agree on the matched offer before crowdfunding begins.
FEA and Buzzbnk work with projects to help them develop a realistic financing plan, including a specific target and timescale for their crowd funding campaign. Buzzbnk also run workshops to help projects plan their campaign.
All projects are crowd funded within the same time period and peer-to-peer networking is encouraged to help participating projects achieve their goals. Buzzbnk provided crowd funding advice and support to help the projects.
The funding from The A Team Foundation is structured either as a grant or as repayable finance. This is decided on a case by case basis and the terms for any repayment (if applicable) is agreed with each project individually, based on the business plans they submit.
The A Team Challenge ran two rounds of funding in 2013 and 2014. Find out about the projects that took part here.
The following projects were shortlisted for loan or grant funding in 2016:
- Bancs Organics
- Glasgow Locavore
- Incredible Farm
- Somerset Local Food Direct
- The Rewild Project
